Party Planning
For peace of mind, begin planning your construction birthday bash six to eight weeks in advance. This will allow you time to gather all the supplies that you need, including construction party decorations, gifts, and menu items. Planning ahead also gives your guests time to RSVP and make travel plans, if needed. Don't panic if you find yourself short on time; you can still plan a great party! Planning ahead simply reduces the risk of conflicts with guests' plans and may increase your construction party’s attendance.
Homemade construction party invitations can be made from card stock or construction paper. Start with any color, except yellow, and fold the sheet in half like a card, then fold both of those pieces in half to create your invitation cards. You should get four cards from each full sheet. Cut triangles from yellow construction paper and glue to the front of each card as a “yield” sign. On the yield sign write: “Wear Your Hard Hats—It’s a Construction Party!” Inside, write the time, place, and RSVP information. Or, if you’re short on time, purchase personalized or pre-printed construction birthday invitations online. We recommend mailing your invitations three to four weeks prior to the party—any sooner and your guests may forget, any later and your guests may already have plans.

What You’ll Need
If you plan to use paper tableware and construction party supplies, our Suggested Party Supply List may be quite helpful. Please note that you may not need everything on the list; it is intended only as a guide.
For this party, colors such as neon yellow, orange and/or green (for caution), and brown and gray (for dirt and concrete) are ideal. Balloons and streamers in these colors will look great!
For goodie bags, purchase construction party favors, such as toy construction trucks, hard hats, whistles, plastic keys, and assorted candies. Place all these items inside clear or printed cellophane bags and tie with yellow or orange chenille sticks or ribbon.
