Party Planning

For peace of mind, begin planning your kids space birthday bash six to eight weeks in advance. This will allow you time to gather all the supplies that you need, including space party decorations, gifts, and menu items. Planning ahead also gives your guests time to RSVP and make travel plans, if needed. Don't panic if you find yourself short on time; you can still plan a great outer space party! Planning ahead simply reduces the risk of conflicts with guests' plans and may increase your party’s attendance.

Make easy space invitations from black construction paper by folding sheets of it into cards. Cut white or yellow moons from construction paper, and glue them to the fronts of the black cards. Use the handle end of a paint brush to dot on yellow or white stars all over the cards. Or, if you’re short on time, purchase personalized or pre-printed outer space invitations online. We recommend mailing your invitations three to four weeks prior to the party—any sooner and your guests may forget, any later and your guests may already have plans.

What Do I Need for the Party?

If you plan to use paper tableware and space party supplies, our Suggested Party Supply List may be quite helpful. Please note that you may not need everything on the list; it is intended only as a guide.

Colors for this space birthday party should include lots of silver and black with red, white and blue thrown in as well. Stock up on Martian and space stickers, bendable Martian toys, toy rockets and space ships, pencils, assorted candies, and other space party favors. Put these items into clear or printed cellophane bags, and tie the tops closed with black chenille stems.
