Best for

Boys aged four through eight just love playing pretend -- especially if they can pretend to be a firefighter!

Party Planning

For peace of mind, begin planning your firefighter birthday bash six to eight weeks in advance. This will allow you time to gather all the supplies that you need, including fire truck party decorations, gifts, and menu items. Planning ahead also gives your guests time to RSVP and make travel plans, if needed. Don't panic if you find yourself short on time; you can still plan a great party! Planning ahead simply reduces the risk of conflicts with guests' plans and may increase your party’s attendance.

Creative fire truck birthday invitations build excitement and can increase attendance at your child's party. If you have time to make your own, be sure to involve your child in choosing the design and filling in the details. Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • If you have a photo of your child on a fire truck, use it as the front of the invitation, and make color copies at your local copy shop.
  • Another option is to use yellow cardstock folded in half with a fire truck sticker on the front. Add the party details inside.
  • Use creative wording such as Sound the Alarm! It’s a blazing hot Birthday Party!
  • Seal the envelopes with firefighter stickers.

You can also use our easy, printable party invitations. Or, if you’re short on time, purchase personalized or pre-printed fireman birthday invitations online. We recommend mailing your invitations three to four weeks prior to the party—any sooner and your guests may forget, any later and your guests may already have plans.

What You’ll Need

If you plan to use paper tableware and fire truck party supplies, our Suggested Party Supply List may be quite helpful. Please note that you may not need everything on the list; it is intended only as a guide.

In addition to basic fireman party, like plates, cups, napkins, and decorations, you may also consider purchasing the following items:

  • Poster board in red, orange and yellow
  • Dress up items such as red firefighter hats and fire chief badges for each guest
  • Fire safety materials from your local fire station (usually free)
  • Disposable cameras

For this party, think red and yellow (with some black mixed in) as your main color scheme. Simple red and yellow balloons and pretty pastel streamers work perfectly. For goodie bags, purchase fire truck party favors, such as mini-flashlights, small toy fire trucks, mini-fire extinguishers, fire chief badges, red firefighter hats, small water squirt toys, and stickers. Place all of these items inside clear or printed cellophane bags, and tie the bags closed with fire-red ribbons. Or, if you're short on time, buy ready-made firefighter party favor sets.
