Looking for some feline fun? Try these ideas for your little kitten-lover and create the best birthday party ever!

What's cuter than a kitten? A kitty birthday party for your little one! These fun and tasty kitty party ideas – including invitations, decorations, recipes, costumes, and more – will have all your guests feeling like a frisky feline!

Party Planning

Start planning your child’s kitty party 6 – 8 weeks in advance. This will allow you time to gather all the cat party supplies that you need, including decorations, party favors, basic partyware, gifts, and food. Don’t panic if you find yourself short on time; you can still plan a great kitty birthday party! Planning ahead simply reduces the risk of conflicts with guests’ plans and may increase attendance at your child’s party.

Make sure to mail your invitations at least 3 weeks before the party to give your guests time to RSVP and make travel plans, if needed. You can purchase adorable personalized or fill-in-the-blank kitty party invitations from our sister site, Birthday in a Box, or you can make your own. To create simple cat theme party invitations from scratch, just fold pieces of construction paper in half, and then in half again, write a message on each cover and the party details inside, and decorate the invitations with cat stickers or stamps. Consider using a cute, cat-themed message like, “Come to Julie’s Party for a Purr-fectly Great Time!”

To simplify the rest of the party planning process, try our ideas for selecting decorations, supplies, activities, and more for your child’s kitty birthday party. You can also check out Birthday in a Box’s Party Planning 101 section, which includes a party planning timeline, articles on when and where to have the party and selecting a theme, a printable RSVP sheet, and more.

What You’ll Need

If you plan to use paper tableware and themed party supplies for your kitty birthday party, the Birthday in a Box Suggested Party Supply List may be quite helpful. Please note that you may not need everything on the list; it is intended only as a guide.

For a kitty party, think feminine colors, such as pink and turquoise. Stock up on simple kitty balloons, streamers and other cat party decorations. For goodie bags, think cat stickers, stuffed animals, figurines and other kitty party favors. Place all of these items inside clear or printed cellophane bags and tie the bags closed with pretty, pastel-colored ribbons.
