Monster Party

Party Planning and Supplies

Monsters come in all shapes and sizes. And so do monster parties! Whether your child likes icky monsters, scary monsters, or friendly monsters, we've got the monster party ideas that will have all your guests roaring with laughter.

Best for...

Girls and boys aged four through eight just love a party in honor of their favorite monster.

Planning the Monster Party

For peace of mind, begin planning your monster birthday party six to eight weeks in advance. This will allow you time to gather all the supplies that you need, including monster party decorations, gifts, and menu items. Planning ahead also gives your guests time to RSVP and make travel plans, if needed. Don't panic if you find yourself short on time; you can still plan a great party! Planning ahead simply reduces the risk of conflicts with guests' plans and may increase your monster party’s attendance.

Birthday Monsters Invitations

Want to make your own monster party invitations? Here are a few ideas...

  • Cut the shape of a monster foot from green construction paper (like Godzilla’s foot) and use a black marker to color the toenails. Then print the words “You’re Invited to a Stompin’ Monster Party!” on the front. Turn the foot over and print the party details on the back side. Instead of labeling the party date, print “Stomping Day: [date]”.
  • Use fill-in-the-blank invitations with a monster design, and tie each one to a monster paw before delivering them to your guests. Make the monster paw by using a clear plastic glove with one gumdrop in the tip of each finger as fingernails, and fill with popped popcorn. Tie the glove closed with a piece of green ribbon or a pipe cleaner.
  • Seal the envelopes with monster stickers.

Short on time? Purchase personalized or pre-printed monster party invitations from our sister site, Birthday in a Box.

What You’ll Need for Your Monster Party

If you plan to use paper tableware and monster party supplies, our Suggested Party Supply List may be quite helpful. Please note that you may not need everything on the list; it is intended only as a guide.

For goodie bags, purchase a variety of monster party favors, such as monster stickers, monster candies, and more. Place all of these items inside clear or printed cellophane bags, and tie the bags closed with colored ribbons.
